London, July 1st 2009 -- J7 Broadcast inc. has today announced the DVB-1000, an 8" flat panel handheld display that enables broadcast transmission field engineers to monitor DVB-ASI signal compliance while viewing program content and uncompressed stream metadata.
The DVB-1000 has three distinct inputs – DVB-ASI, SMPTE-310M & ATSC antenna. It’s light-weight and robust design – with anti-reflective protective glass panel, carry handles and rubber bumpers – makes the product the ideal for a wide range of field service, monitoring and repair activities.
Supporting Quality of Service (QoS) monitoring and fault-finding activities through its unique ability to decode and display compressed MPEG2 & MPEG4 streams, the DVB-1000 is suitable for use in broadcast, cable, head-end, transmission, contribution, outside broadcast and satellite broadcast environments.
The handheld display delivers automatic selection with AFD support for 4:3 and 16:9 images, plus comprehensive user button functions to select the desired data for analysis. A selectable On Screen Display (OSD) overlay provides summary information as to the content of the ASI stream, the programs contained within the stream, and the audio and video content.
"The DVB-1000 is a unique portable service monitor, that combines the capabilities of several pieces of test equipment into a single, lightweight unit – the perfect companion to our studio based systems," commented J7 Broadcast's CEO James Henry.
The J7Broadcast name is synonymous with high reliability solutions specialized for the performance needs of the broadcast market. It portable and studio products are tested for the rigors of the transmission environment. The technology is developed in-house, with local market support and maintenance in Asia, Europe and the Americas.
